I understand your pain and struggle. Thank you for sharing the details of your life. That is the most common problem in eating disorders (or the likes of depression and what not), feeling alone and not having anyone to talk to.

Eating disorders have become synonymous with living for me. I had them since I was twelve years old. When I was in college and gained by "freshmen 15" (it was more like my freshman 30 for me). I was healthy, active, and so aware of my "purpose" in life.

I was never a beauty queen. I went from 135 to 165 pounds after my freshman year of college. I decided it was time for me to lose weight because of the social pressure (from family and my male peers). Within eight months I lost close to 75 pounds. Even to this day I cannot believe that I have accomplished such a feat.

It's never easy to admit to your faults. Starvation is not the answer. We all tend to give into the images that are portrayed in mass media. We want to become them and I did. The only problem was that I ended up in treatment for two years.

It takes a lot to admit that you are ill but once you do... it is worth the shame because it is your life on the line after all. Women should never feel alone because help is there waiting to catch you from falling in too deep.

Thank you for creating an organization to stop the negative stigmas about being a beautiful woman... regardless of how we look.
